Police officer’s girlfriend guns him down in Imo on Boxing Day

A 23-year-old woman identified as Amanda Uchechi Ugo has allegedly killed a policeman attached to the Imo State Police Command, Cosmas Ugwu.

WORLD WIDE GIST learnt that Amanda who was a lover of the police officer, shot him dead on Boxing Day around the Ezinihitte Area Command after an altercation.

According to reports, the police officer was shot three times in the chest and hand leading to his death.

The Imo State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST on Thursday said the suspect has been arrested.

According to the PPRO, the deceased officer was earlier rushed to a hospital by his colleagues after the incident but he died while receiving treatment.

He said the suspect would be arraigned after a forensic investigation is concluded.

He said, “The incident is a very unfortunate one. This thing happened two days ago. She allegedly shot the officer and he was immediately rushed to a hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

“Currently, the suspect has been arrested and she will be transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID.

“There, a forensic investigation will be carried out after which she will be arraigned in court with an appropriate criminal charge”.
