EPL: I’m not happy with Man Utd transfers – Dwight Yorke

Former Manchester United attacker Dwight Yorke has hit out at the Red Devils for missing the opportunity to sign Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney.

Man United signed the likes of Mason Mount, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund, and Sofyan Amrabat during the summer transfer window.

Despite the new signings, Erik ten Hag’s side have endured a mixed start to the new Premier League season and have already suffered defeats against Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Yorke believes Man United should have signed Tierney, who left Arsenal to join Real Sociedad on loan during the final week of the summer window.

“I’m not really happy with Man United’s transfer window business,” Yorke told Genting Casino.

“When you look at where Man United are as a team, we have signed names that won’t get people too excited. I think we missed the boat with Kieran Tierney, as I like his energy despite his injury issues.

“We’ve finally signed a traditional striker, but I think the manager trusts the players he has, and he has to make the most of it. I assume he is happy with the squad, and it will be interesting to see what happens.”

Peseiro stated that his team must focus on the task ahead and not allow any form of distraction.

“We cannot give excuses about the weather; we need to put in our focus, adapt well and do our best ahead of the first match, which is very important for us,” he told NFF TV.

The Super Eagles will open their campaign at the 2023 AFCON finals against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
