Man, 43, arrested for allegedly stabbing wife to dead while asleep

A 43-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his sleeping wife to death in Damaturu, Yobe State.

This was disclosed in an incident report shared with newsmen by the Police Public Relations Officer, Yobe State Command, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

“On 4/1/2024 at about 0448 hrs, a distress call was received by ‘C’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, that one Abubakar Musa, ‘M’ 43yrs of New Housing Estate, Bye-pass, Maiduguri Road, Damaturu, while sleeping on the same bed, with his wife, Ammi Adamu Mamman, ‘F’ 42yrs, she was stabbed with an object on her neck, causing a deep cut which resulted in heavy bleeding and led to her death.

“The husband was arrested for interrogation”, the report read.

According to the incident report, findings revealed that both the victim and the suspect are staff of Yobe State University, (YSU), Damaturu.

He added that investigation had commenced immediately by the homicide unit of the State CID.

The State Command, however, urged community members to cooperate with the police by giving credible information concerning the incident so that justice be served and deter future occurrence.

Chelsea boss, Mauricio Pochettino, has explained his side’s decision to bring back midfielder Andrey Santos from his loan at Nottingham Forest.

Recall that Chelsea had earlier this week recalled Santos from Nottingham Forest.

Speaking on the development at his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup third round clash with Preston on Saturday, Pochettino insisted that the Blues the Brazilian back to Stamford Bridge because he wasn’t involved in the squads at Forest.

“We decided to bring André Santos back because he was not involved in the squads at Nottingham Forest. He was not involved every week,” Pochettino said.

“It is good for him to come back, assess him and take the best decision for him and the team. We will see”.

The Nigerian professional table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, has been knocked out of the 2023 World Table Tennis (WTT) men’s finals tournament in Doha.

World Wide Gist reports that Nigeria’s highest-ranked Table Tennis player was beaten at t the quarter-final stage on Thursday.

Quadri suffered a 3-0 loss against Fan Zhedong, the world’s number-one-ranked table tennis player.

Representing China, Zedong swiftly defeated Quadri with scores of 11-6, 11-9, 11-4 in just under 21 minutes at the Lusail Sports Arena on Thursday.
